Samit Soni

Samit Soni is a member of our Financial Services practice and leads our Banking practice across the Americas.

Samit advises CEOs, boards, and senior executive teams of leading financial institutions on enterprise strategy, growth, profitability improvement, and large-scale business transformation. His experience spans retail, commercial, and wholesale banking, with a focus on translating strategic priorities into measurable financial and operational results.

He has led major banking transformations involving enterprise-wide operating model redesign, technology modernization, AI-enabled productivity improvement, cost optimization, and wholesale banking transformation. His work combines strategic direction with hands-on execution to help financial institutions simplify complex operations, strengthen organizational capabilities, and improve business performance.

Prior to Bain, Samit held leadership positions at IBM, as well as in management consulting, where he built and led substantial financial services businesses with profit-and-loss accountability.

Earlier in his career, he served as managing director at Standard Chartered Bank, including as chief operating officer of retail banking products and global head of credit risk control. In these roles, he led global banking operations and transformation across multiple markets in Asia, Africa, and the Middle East.

Samit holds a Ph.D. in management science from the University of Texas at Dallas and previously served on the faculties of Georgia Institute of Technology and Vanderbilt University.

Outside of work, he enjoys reading, music, and spending time with his family.
